Sun-Gard Desert Charcoal

No longer listed Status checked September 2026

Discontinued. Sun-Gard has belonged to Madico since 2010, and Madico's site no longer lists this line. On Sun-Gard's 2001 spec sheets. Madico's 2013 Sun-Gard automotive sheet lists only Black Pearl.

From our catalog notes (2008–2013): Desert Series film was designed to withstand the most severe climates. The film was also designed to help installers install using high-heat methods.

Hybrid film pairs a dyed layer with a thin metal layer, so it rejects more heat than dyed film while staying less shiny than an all-metal film. Compare the types of window film.

Figures are measured on single-pane clear glass; results on your windows will vary. The number in a shade's name is nominal; VLT is the measured light transmission. Archived specs may differ from what was sold near the end of the line.

Darkness limits for cars are set by each state. Check your state's tint law before choosing a shade.

Visualize the shades: tint preview and heat rejected

The tint preview shows how each shade darkens the view from inside (visible light transmission, VLT); screens vary, so use it as a guide. Heat rejected is total solar energy rejected (TSER): higher is cooler.
