The free reference on window film: tint laws, specs and history
TintCenter documents the window film industry, free and independent of any maker: the legal tint limits for every state with the statutes behind them, specs and history for every major brand's films, current and discontinued, the makers' own spec sheets, and the news as it happens.
We also sell film by the roll, because readers kept asking us for samples to try: car tint and home and office film from Solar Gard, ASWF and our own TintCenter line, plus decorative privacy film and wraps and paint protection from XPEL, Avery Dennison and HEXIS, shipped from Castro Valley, California.
Free US shipping on orders over $500. We also ship to Canada.

About TintCenter
TintCenter began as a free guide to window tint and grew into a reference on the whole industry: the legal tint limits for every state, with their sources, and specs and history for window film brands and their lines, including discontinued ones. It is run by TintCenter LLC in Castro Valley, California.
We sell window film by the roll because readers wanted to try the films they read about and kept asking us for samples; selling the rolls turned out to be the best way to help. Car tint and home and office film from Solar Gard, ASWF and our own TintCenter line, decorative privacy film, and wraps and paint protection from XPEL, Avery Dennison and HEXIS. We don't install film and have no walk-in shop.
Common questions
Do you install window film?
No. TintCenter is an online store only, with no installation and no walk-in shop. We sell film by the roll for installers and do-it-yourselfers. For precut kits made for your car or windows, see our partner SnapTint, a separate business.
Where do you ship, and what does shipping cost?
We ship from Castro Valley, California, to the United States and Canada. US orders of $500 or more ship free; smaller US orders pay what USPS charges us for Ground Advantage. Canadian orders go by USPS Priority Mail International at USPS rates. See the shipping policy.
How is the film sold?
By the roll. Each product page lists the roll widths and lengths you can choose. Film ships rolled on a core, inside a tube and a box, so it arrives uncreased.
Can I return film?
You can ask to return unused film within 30 days of delivery; returns need our approval first. Film that has been cut, installed or used can't be returned, and approved returns have a 25% restocking fee. See the refund policy.
How dark can my car window tint be?
It depends on your state and on which window. Our tint laws for all 50 states list the legal limit for each window, with the statutes linked.
Which type of window film do I need?
It depends on what you want: privacy, heat rejection, UV protection or looks. Our guide to the types of window film compares dyed, metallized, carbon and ceramic film, and our window tint brands pages list the specs for each line.
