How the Delaware tint law has changed

The changes we could document, newest first, each with its source. Where we only know that our older records differ from today's law, we say so rather than guess a date.

  1. Law change Front side windows opened up to 50% tint

Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 255 rewrote 21 Del. C. 4313: front side windows may now let in as little as 50% of light (before, 70%, the federal FMVSS 205 level), with no medical statement needed. Windows behind the driver still have no limit, and the medical statement exception stays. The Senate passed it 20-0 on June 19, 2026, and it was reported signed into law by August 28, 2026. The bill sets no later effective date.
